This is from our trip last year. We went through New York very early on a Sunday and traffic was still nuts. I just had to have the Ghost Busters shot!

I spent today in the air and in North Dakota. You know I hate to fly and I did this pretty much under duress. Okay, so no one really pressured me, but I’m supposed to make at least one trip to the plant in North Dakota every year and I wanted to get the first one out of the way (so to speak). It wasn’t horrible – the pilots were great – but it was like flying in a long metal tube. I had no idea that thing would be so small inside. It seats seven passengers and you really have to like each other!

I’m back on the ground and quite happy to be here. I think I’ll keep driving or taking the train, thank you very much!

Thomas Jefferson’s home in Charlottesville, Virginia. We’ve been here a couple of times. This particular picture was taken in 2005 when we went on the first trip with Darlene, Dennis, Bev and Barb.

I think this is in Vermont. This was taken on our trip to the East Coast last year. I made Mike pull over so I could run back and get this shot, but I think Bev refused to look down when we drove over the bridge. Actually Bev, I don’t blame you. This was pretty high up!

I took this when we were in Philadelphia last year. We were near Independence Hall at the time. I just liked the way the shot turned out.

I haven’t posted any new pictures on Flickr lately. I think I have everything that was saved on a CD uploaded, so now it will be time to go back and find photographs to scan. Most of our vacations were captured on film so it’s going to be a challenge from this point forward. Not the scanning part… oh no, the challenge will be in going through the boxes and boxes of photos to find just the right ones!

St. Paul

Okay, so traveling to St. Paul isn’t exactly a vacation. But, I took this with my Olympus camera while we were exploring with Ryan in St. Paul last night. It turned out pretty well, even if I do say so myself!

This was taken back in 1994. We went to the Upper Peninsula once by ourselves and then went back two years later with Mike’s brothers.

This is from the Porcupine Mountain area. We went hiking and liked the area so much we talked everyone into going back with us.

This was taken last summer. I’m not sure what ever happened with the plans to build the ridiculous monument they had planned for the space. I was there, and I can tell you it’s perfect the way it is. It doesn’t need interactive video or any of the other crazy stuff that seems to be popular these days.

To honor those that were lost that day…

This was taken in 2003 I believe. I helped my Dad move, and he showed me all around Idaho. He wanted me to see how beautiful it was, so we’d be convinced to move out there some day.

You were right, Dad, it is the prettiest place on earth.

This is my attempt at being arty. These two shots were taken in New York City. One is the statue of George Washington, in front of Federal Hall. The other is the flag that’s hung in front of the New York Stock Exchange.

I put these together as a collage and thought they’d made a great symbol for Independence Day.
